Adelina Rivera, MS, is a Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern. She received her Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling from the University of Miami (UM). During her time pursuing her degree at the University of Miami, Ms. Rivera completed her practicum and internship at Pediatric Psychology Associates, where she helped facilitate social skills groups, including the Social Understanding and Relationship Fundamentals (SURF) groups. Her populations of interest include individuals with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, depression, Autism Spectrum Disorder, anxiety and social, behavioral, and emotional difficulties. Ms. Rivera also emphasizes the importance of psychoeducation, providing individuals and their families with valuable information and resources. Recognizing the significant impact of family dynamics on mental health, she is also committed to offering support and guidance to families navigating these challenges. Ms. Rivera believes in the importance of creating a therapeutic environment that is both inclusive and culturally sensitive, recognizing that each client’s background, experiences, and identity significantly shape their mental health needs and journey. She is committed to tailoring her approach to meet the unique circumstances of every individual, ensuring that services are accessible, respectful, and effective. Her goal is to empower clients from all walks of life to achieve their therapeutic goals. Ms. Rivera provides thoughtful and evidence-informed care to help individuals, and their families thrive. She co-facilitates the SURF and PEERS group programs in Miami Beach. Ms. Rivera provides services in English and Spanish, both in-person at PPA’s South Miami and Miami Beach locations, as well as via telehealth.
